Meaningful Measures have recently completed a new piece of consultancy for The wildlife Trusts.
The Wildlife Trusts' vision is of people close to nature, with land and seas rich in wildlife. Their mission is to bring about living landscapes, living seas and a society where nature matters. Meaningful Measures are delighted to support this national organisation and its key role acting for nature's recovery.
Meaningful Measures were brought in as independent experts to evaluate current working practices and to support and enable The Wildlife Trusts to make a transition to a community organising approach. This work was seen as a critical strategic piece of work for The Wildlife Trusts as they build a new 10-year plan.
Meaningful Measures undertook a mixed methods approach and carried out interviews with Wildlife Trust staff, focus groups with Wildlife Trust project participants to hear what is working well and what could be better. We listened to staff in the central team 1:1 as well as running an interactive online session with over 300 staff to obtain live data to test out our preliminary findings and get a broader understanding of staff views and experiences. We synthesised all these data collected into an insightful evaluation report, accompanied by a guide to developing their evaluation approach across the 47 organisations, a theory of change and an implementation pathway guide to support scaling up of their new approach - all ahead of schedule.
The report created is internal to The wildlife Trusts, but we wanted to share a quote from the Director of Campaigning and Communities at The Wildlife Trusts, Nikki Williams about her positive experience of working with us:
"We chose to work with Meaningful Measures as we needed an independent way of analysing how The Wildlife Trusts could make a large, strategic move from more traditional people engagement to a community organising approach. It was their background in managing and synthesising first person experiences in a safe and positive environment, that was so valuable to us. They brought experience and insight to the analysis, that has helped us build the foundation of our approach to helping 47 independent charities work as one when it comes to empowering and enabling the diverse range of communities we are seated within and how we will support people in feeling able to be a part of achieving nature's recovery. The evaluation piece now forms a core part of our fundraising bids and our strategic approach to building our community organising."
