Perci Health Partnership

Perci Health is a virtual care clinic connecting people living with cancer, and their caregivers, to a team of multidisciplinary cancer experts. They provide 1-to-1 appointments with NHS-trained cancer specialists and expert-led content for every stage of the journey.

Perci bridges the gap between cancer and wellness, providing access to a complete solution; from prevention to survivorship support, all in one place. Through a mixture of digital and human intervention, we connect people to high-quality cancer experts across multidisciplinary fields focused on cancer's physical, psychological, and practical impacts. We've partnered with Perci Health to integrate Measure Yourself Concerns and Wellbeing® (MYCaW) into their virtual care platform.

Measure Yourself Concerns and Wellbeing® (MYCaW) is an adaptation of MYMOP® and was first published in 2006 when Dr Charlotte Paterson was a postdoc researcher at the University of Bristol.

The Cavendish Centre for Cancer Care and Bristol Cancer Help Centre (now known as Penny Brohn UK) piloted MYMOP® at their centres and found that it had certain disadvantages. Consequently, from around 2000 onwards, a multidisciplinary research group designed and piloted a new questionnaire, which came to be known as MYCaW®.

Why did you want to use MYCaW and Meaningful Measures?

We are assessing the impact of our holistic intervention in people living with and beyond cancer, we therefore wanted to use a tool that had been validated in this setting and provided flexibility for the patient/member to focus on the many broad, diverse impacts of cancer treatment.

We use the tool alongside a range of other validated symptom-specific patient-reported outcome measures to give us a broad view of clinical outcomes and effectiveness.

We typically see a 1.5-2 point improvement.

Since integrating it into your platform have you had any feedback from clinicians/users on the tool?

All of our nurses and allied health professionals are trained to interpret the results of the tool, and know how to use the tool in their initial assessments with members. They find it easy to use, and helpful in tracking progress.

Is your aim to monitor individual patient progress or are you also planning to look at the data on a larger scale?

We use it to both monitor individual patient progress and also review the global data we capture quarterly / annually and across our different pathways to assess the effectiveness of our intervention and support further product evolution.

"It has been a pleasure to work with the MYCAW team. They have been helpful in sharing their learning and insight from other institutions around the world using the tool to improve outcomes for people living with and beyond cancer."
