This time last year we launched our website licensing MYCaW® and MYMOP® under the name Meaningful Measures.
We chose that name as the questionnaires record what concerns a person the most or what symptoms are most bothering a person and what activities they affect – the data therefore means something to that person. This is particularly important in research and service provision, as it is hard to systematically capture each person's voice who comes through a service, without burdening them with lots of questions. 15 years ago Helen and I were challenged to do just that when we worked as researchers in different cancer charities that provided holistic support to people and 15 years later here we are.
2021 has been a year of vertical learning curves for us both, running a business together, developing licenses, protocols, videos, training courses, delivering consultancy projects, providing strategic support, bidding in research grants and above all trying to work out how to operate during a pandemic. In fact, Helen and I still haven't actually been in the same room together yet – thank goodness for video calls!
It is good to have time to reflect on the year - not only did we manage to license MYCaW® and MYMOP®, but to protect their validity as they become more popular, we got trademark registration. We were delighted to then get accreditation for use in the NHS Personalised Care HSSF framework, supporting the integration of MYCaW® and MYMOP® into the NHS.
We are now gathering in translations that exist and reviewing them and creating new translations with researchers and organisations around the world. We will be launching a new page on our website in January about this.
We really just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported our vision of enabling people's voices to shape the support they receive.
So here is a shout out to all the people that have worked with us this year – and sorry if we miss anyone out (and in no particular order!). Thank you for supporting our micro-business through its first year!
